Protect your waking moments

Before the stress of the day grabs you by the throat, can you take a minute or two to enjoy your waking moments -- that fleeting time between sleep and fully awakening -- to just appreciate that you have another chance at life today?

Starting with a moment to yourself -- whether you spend it just appreciating the warmth of your cozy bed, look out the window and contemplate the day or take a few deep breaths in gratitude -- sets you up for a much calmer morning and more peaceful disposition than immediately allowing in the stimuli of social media and your email and to-do list.

Try taking a minute to yourself in the morning this week and see how it affects your mood. It could be the beginning of a peaceful morning routine!
